I will be handling the council’s website for this fraternal year.  We will now be using the calendar to post events up to 90 days out, this will also include meeting dates as well as any othe important dates we need to post.  If anyone would like to submit anything to be posted on here, please feel free to let me know and forward it to my email.  I will also take care of the councils facebook page as well, which is : Knights of Columbus Council #14944.   Please feel free to go into the calendar and look at the events we have scheduled.  We will send out emails periodically directing Knights to look at the calendar for important events….and I will try to post reminders on council
meetings.

It is my extreme pleasure to announce your Knights of Columbus Council has recieved a Georgia State Council Award for our portion of the Relocating St. Gerard’s Project (see photo) at the Georgia State Convention. Also we are receiving the Prestigious Double Star Award from Supreme Council for our phenomenal success this year. This could not be possible without all of your support. Although I am not leaving the council, i will be supporting our new Grand Knight Larry Heiman. Please come to our next meeting, which will be on Thursday, June 16th….dinner around 6PM and our meeting starts at 7 pm.

My Brother Knights All:

As we head into the final 3 months of this fraternal year, I want to thank each and every one of you for making this year a great success.  We have already achieved our Star Council quotas, and we will obtain the prestigious Double Star Award next year.  This is unheard of, for a first year council to accomplish this.  We continue to have prospects and candidates for the upcoming degrees.  The next one will be held on March 29th at All Saints, it will be a 1st and a 2nd degree.  With a 3rd degree being held on April 16th at All Saints as well.

Our next meeting has been moved due to the mission this week.  It will be held on Thursday, March 24th in Room 202 upstairs.  Please make an attempt to make that meeting.  We will show a short film on the order that everyone would enjoy.  Please welcome our two newest members:  Fernando Peguero, and Tim Vissman to our council.  If you see them, take the time to introduce yourself to them and make them feel welcome.  We also have our welcome breakfast this sunday, March 20th, we could use some help with that.  Our onion sales will kick off next week, with a table at the Men’s Club Fish Fries. Please contact myself if you would like to help out at the table.  Deacon Bill is also looking for some wives to help out with the confirmation reception on May 1st after 11 am mass to serve food.   If you are interested, please let me know.

My fellow brother knights,

As we have approached the halfway point of this fraternal year, we do this with many accomplishments in such a very short time.  We have grown by 15 new members. Please join me in welcoming our newest member : Roger “Tim” Vissman.   He comes to us from a council in Kentucky.  Welcome him aboard when you see him. We have been asked to support Deacon Bills School of Religion with religious material for the School of Religion.  We can help him with prayer cards, rosary beads and coloring books for the children.   We are also looking to develop a 1st Degree Team within the council, We need to look at funds to purchase the necessary sashes and equipment for the team.  In doing so, we can have members join our council faster, instead of waiting for a 1st degree outside of the council.

We are coming up on several breakfasts, a Mardi Gras Party as well as our Council Onion Fundraiser.  We will need your help for these and more projects.  Please remember that the funds we raise will be allocated towards helping Deacon Bill as well as developing our membership area.  We will also have additional funds available to help the needs of the parish.  We will have a brief” officers meeting prior to our February meeting to discuss where we are at this point.   Our last one will be held in May-June to see where we are at the end of this fraternal year.   Please plan to attend these two prior to the council meetings mentioned above.  If you can think of any other fundraising ideas or projects we can do, you are welcome to bring them to our council meetings.   REMEMBER: we cannot do these, without you.

My Brother Knights all…….

The council keeps growing at a steady pace, We have just recently added 3 new members who took their first degree. Congratulations to our new members: Daniel Kieh, Anthony Kwakye, Timothy Uptagraft. If you see them at a meeting or a function, please go up to them and introduce yourself to them. We also have a new transfer into the council. Ron Matzonkai, Ron is a 4th degree Knight who has been around, and his experience will be quite valuable to the council.

We have 3 prospects from the Time and Talent booth from the picnic that we will be talking to, as well as another new candidate and another transfer from another council. We need to have more new blood, with that comes new ideas and more hands to help with our projects. There is an old saying that says “If you’re not growing….you’re dying”. We have proven this far, that we are far from dead. There are more GOOD men in the Parish that need to be Knights. Let’s all work together to make sure we can get these GOOD men to become Knights.

My Brother Knights All,

We are 3 months into this fraternal year, and we have started it on fire: We have grown by 7 new members, with 3 more prospects coming on board shortly. We have participated in 13 projects so far this year. We have been approached by various ministries for help as well. We now are about to enter the holiday season. Some of you we have not seen, due to CRHP committments. Now that CRHP is over, we hope to see even New Knights at our next meeting. Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, October 21st at 7 P.M. After the meeting we have a special treat, Brother Sam Shock will be having a beer tasting of different beers from around the world. He will be asking for a slight charge to do this, but it should be quite an experience for all of us. We will also be looking at several fundraisers coming up in the next 3 months.
